What's the best tonneau cover for a Tundra?

A Tundra gets bought to tow the boat and keep running past 300,000 miles. Most are CrewMax trucks with the 5'6" bed, the rest Double Cabs with the 6'6". The best tonneau cover for a Tundra is one that lasts as long as the truck. If you open the bed every day, the Landmark retractable is the better fit: it retracts into the bed, keeps your rear view, and quick-releases in 30 seconds. On a 2022 or newer composite bed it mounts to the deck rails.

If you stack gear on top, the Tectonic hard tri-fold carries 250 pounds on top as a Sport, 500 as a Pro or Max and fits every Tundra back to 2007.

A soft cover gets cut and won't lock. Buy aluminum once.

Landmark is right for your Tundra if you

  • Want a clean, low-profile look that keeps the truck sharp
  • Open the bed every day and want fast access, or the whole cover off in seconds
  • Want key-locking security you can count on
  • Want to keep the deck rails on a 2022 or newer Tundra

Tectonic is right for your Tundra if you

  • Want total access to the entire bed at any moment
  • Pack the bed full and need room to carry cargo on top
  • Need the bed sealed and dry
  • Drive any Tundra since 2007 and stand on the cover to reach the cab end

Tundra bed cover fitment by year

Tundra tonneau cover questions

What's the best tonneau cover for a Toyota Tundra?

A hard aluminum cover: retractable if you open the bed every day, hard tri-fold if you carry gear on top. Both Peragon covers fit every Tundra back to 2007 on the 5'6" and 6'6" beds. On a 2022 or newer composite bed the Landmark keeps the deck rails and the Tectonic removes them. Both are built in Shell Lake, Wisconsin.

Will a bed cover fit my Tundra with a bed liner or the deck rail system?

On a 2022 or newer Tundra the Landmark mounts to the deck rails and the Tectonic needs them removed. On a 2007 to 2021 Tundra the deck rail system comes off for either cover. Plastic drop-in liners need to be modified for the Tectonic; spray-in liners are fine.

Does a tonneau cover work with the Tundra's power tailgate?

Yes. Both covers work with the power-release tailgate on the 2022 and newer Tundra, and with the standard tailgate on 2007 to 2021 trucks.

Which bed lengths does the Tundra come in, and how do I measure mine?

Two we fit: the CrewMax has the 5'6" bed and the Double Cab the 6'6". Measure inside from the front wall to the inside of the closed tailgate: about 66 inches is the 5'6", about 78 the 6'6". If you have the 8-foot bed, call us at 877-473-7246 or use live chat before you order and we'll check your truck.

How long does it take to install a bed cover on a Tundra? Do I have to drill?

No drilling on either cover. Tectonic goes on in about 30 minutes with the clamps in the box, deck rails removed. Landmark takes 2 to 3 hours and uses no-drill QuickClamps on the 2007 to 2021 Tundra and the deck rails on 2022 and newer. LimitedHDx is not compatible with the factory tie-down cleats. The install video for your year is on its year page.

Does it fit the Tundra TRD Pro, Capstone and hybrid?

TRD Pro, Capstone, 1794, Platinum and the i-FORCE MAX hybrid all use the standard Tundra bed for their cab, so they take the same cover as any Tundra of that year and bed. Pick CrewMax (5'6") or Double Cab (6'6") on the year page.
