What's the best tonneau cover for a Colorado?

The Colorado is the midsize that gets used like a full-size: a crew cab short bed that commutes, then carries a dirt bike or a week of camp gear. Since the 2023 redesign it only comes with the 5'2" bed, so every inch counts. The best tonneau cover for a Colorado depends on the year. On a 2023 or newer truck you can pick either: the Landmark retractable keeps the bed clear and quick-releases in 30 seconds, the Tectonic hard tri-fold carries 250 pounds on top as a Sport, 500 as a Pro or Max.

On a 2015 to 2022 Colorado, Landmark is the cover we make, on both the short and the 6-foot bed. It is a drilled install on that generation.

A soft cover on a short bed is easy to cut and won't lock. Buy aluminum once.

Landmark is right for your Colorado if you

  • Want a clean, low-profile look that keeps the truck sharp
  • Open the bed every day and want fast access, or the whole cover off in seconds
  • Want key-locking security you can count on
  • Drive a 2015 to 2022 Colorado, or want the 6-foot bed covered

Tectonic is right for your Colorado if you

  • Want total access to the entire bed at any moment
  • Pack the bed full and need room to carry cargo on top
  • Need the bed sealed and dry
  • Drive a 2023 or newer Colorado and stand on the cover to reach the cab end

Colorado bed cover fitment by year

Landmark fits the 2015 to 2022 Colorado on both beds and the 2023 and newer short bed in LimitedHDx. Tectonic fits 2023 and newer, short bed only.

Colorado tonneau cover questions

What's the best tonneau cover for a Chevy Colorado?

On a 2023 or newer Colorado, either: Landmark retractable if you open the bed every day, Tectonic hard tri-fold if you carry gear on top. On a 2015 to 2022 Colorado, Landmark is the Peragon cover, on the 5'2" and 6'2" beds. Both are solid aluminum, key-locking and built in Shell Lake, Wisconsin.

Will a bed cover fit my Colorado with a bed liner?

Plastic drop-in liners need to be modified for a Tectonic on the 2023 and newer Colorado.

Can I run a toolbox with a tonneau cover on a Colorado?

A retractable takes the front of the bed when it's open, which is where a crossover toolbox sits, and a tri-fold stacks at the cab end. On a 5'2" Colorado bed the cover and the box compete for the same space. Call us at 877-473-7246 or use live chat before you order and we'll check your truck.

Which bed lengths does the Colorado come in, and how do I measure mine?

2023 and newer: the 5'2" short bed only. 2015 to 2022: 5'2" and 6'2". 2004 to 2012: 5 and 6 feet. Measure inside from the front wall to the inside of the closed tailgate: about 62 inches is the short bed, about 74 is the long.

How long does it take to install a bed cover on a Colorado? Do I have to drill?

It depends on the year. Tectonic on a 2023 or newer Colorado is a no-drill clamp install, about 30 minutes, and the LimitedHDx goes on with hand tools in 2 to 3 hours. Landmark on a 2015 to 2022 Colorado is a drilled install, also 2 to 3 hours. The install video for your year is on its year page.

Does it fit the Colorado ZR2 and Trail Boss?

ZR2 and Trail Boss share the standard Colorado bed and take the same cover for their year. GMC Canyon AT4 and Denali share the Colorado bed and have their own page. If your ZR2 has the bed-mounted spare, call us at 877-473-7246 or use live chat before you order and we'll check your truck.
