What's the best tonneau cover for a Ram 1500?

A Ram 1500 is usually a crew cab with the 5'7" bed, often with RamBox bins in the bed sides and the split multifunction tailgate. The best tonneau cover for a Ram 1500 starts with your body style: a 2019 to 2024 truck could be the new DT body or the Classic, and they take different covers. If you're in and out of the bed every day, the Landmark retractable is the better fit on either body: it retracts into the bed, keeps your rear view, and quick-releases in 30 seconds.

If you stack gear on top, the Tectonic hard tri-fold carries 250 pounds on top as a Sport, 500 as a Pro or Max. It fits the 2019 and newer body only.

Ram 1500 tonneau cover questions

What's the best tonneau cover for a Ram 1500?

A hard aluminum cover: retractable if you open the bed every day, hard tri-fold if you carry gear on top. Landmark fits every Ram 1500 back to 2002, Classic and new body, on all three beds. Tectonic fits the 2019 and newer body on the 5'7" and 6'4" beds. Both are built in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, with a 60-day trial.

Does a tonneau cover fit a Ram 1500 with RamBox?

No. Neither cover fits a Ram 1500 with RamBox. The RamBox bins take up the inside of the bed rail, which is where both the Landmark and the Tectonic clamp, so there's nothing for the cover to mount to. If your truck has the bins in the bed sides, our covers won't work on it. A standard Ram 1500 bed of the same year fits as listed.

Does a tonneau cover work with the Ram 1500 multifunction tailgate?

Landmark, yes, with the Right-On bracket, which lets the 60/40 multifunction tailgate swing open as two doors and drop flat with the cover installed. Tectonic is not compatible with the multifunction tailgate. If your Ram has the standard tailgate, both covers fit.

Which bed lengths does the Ram 1500 come in, and how do I measure mine?

Three: 5'7", 6'4" and 8'. The 8-foot is Classic body only; the DT body comes in 5'7" and 6'4". Measure inside from the front wall to the inside of the closed tailgate: about 67 inches is the 5'7", 76 is the 6'4", 98 is the 8-foot.

How long does it take to install a bed cover on a Ram 1500? Do I have to drill?

No drilling on either cover. Tectonic goes on in about 30 minutes with the clamps in the box. Landmark takes 2 to 3 hours and uses no-drill QuickClamps on the Ram 1500. Plastic drop-in liners need to be modified for the Tectonic; spray-in liners are fine. The install video for your year is on its year page.

Does it fit the Ram 1500 TRX, Rebel and RHO, and the Classic?

Yes. TRX, Rebel and RHO run the 5'7" bed on the DT body and use the 2019 and newer 5'7" cover. The Ram 1500 Classic (2019 to 2024) is the older DS body and takes its own Landmark fit; Tectonic does not fit the Classic. A 2019 to 2024 Ram 1500 can be either body, so check yours before you pick a year.
