There are thousands of aftermarket truck accessories available for every make and model of pickup truck. While a truck bed cover, also known as a tonneau cover, is arguably one of the best investments you can make, there are also a number of other great accessories that will help you get more from your truck and enhance your experience.
Tonneau Cover Style
The first thing to be aware of when selecting a tonneau cover for your truck and accessories to go with it is how the bed cover is mounted to the bed. There are a variety of covers that have mounting hardware that attaches the cover to the truck bed rail, but then the frame or cover itself completely covers the bed rail cap, immediately reducing the number of accessories that your truck bed cover will be compatible with. While the Peragon cover doesn’t work with every accessory, it does have some unique elements that allow for a wide variety of compatibility.
Please note that we cannot guarantee fitment of any aftermarket accessory with the Peragon cover. Compatibility often varies by truck model. The following post is provided as a resource to illustrate previously successful installations. With our 100-Day Free Trial, you have an industry-leading trial period to try out the Peragon cover and ensure that it is right for you. Ladder Racks
Some of the most popular ladder racks available today are compatible with the Peragon retractable aluminum bed cover. The rails of the Peragon bed cover and corresponding brackets require uninterrupted contact with the top, inside edge of the bed side rails, the entire inside lip all around, and the entire top of the front bed rail, so keep this in mind when selecting a ladder rack. Ladder racks that mount to the inside edge via a clamp will not work with our cover. We recommend looking for racks that mount to the top side of your truck either by bolting or using the stake pockets.
Model | Compatible | Notes |
---|---|---|
Thule Trac Rac Slider | Yes | Purchase just the base rail and add accessories to it. |
Adarac | Yes | Mounts to stake pocket holes |
Apex HD Aluminum | No | Clamp |
Yakima Overhaul HD | No | Clamp |
TracRac Trac One | No | Clamp |
VanTech P3000 | On some models | Compatible with Honda Ridgeline (2017–current) |
Adarac Aluminum Series | Yes | Mounts to stake pocket holes |
Keep the following in mind as you consider ladder rack options and complete your installation:
- Install the Peragon cover first to ensure it is aligned and operating correctly.
- Peragon seals may need to be trimmed back away from the stake pockets.
- You may have to use a shimming material in order to raise the rack slightly to clear the Peragon rail. It is still essential that the Peragon rails are level for smooth operation (see installation videos).
Bed Rails
Since bed rails generally mount to the stake hole pockets located on top of the bed rail sides, they typically do not interfere with installation and operation of the Peragon bed cover. You’ll find that bed covers that sit on the bed rail sides (non low-profile truck bed covers) cover up the stake hole pockets and will prevent you from using a variety of different tonneau covers. Bed rails are handy for a variety of things including securing cargo in the bed, as a handrail for accessing the cargo in your bed and enhancing the visual appeal of your truck.
Some installations require trimming of seal or slipping bed rail base under Peragon seal.

While not all bed rails are compatible with the Peragon cover, there are several compatible options.

Bike & Cargo Racks
With such a massive variety of applications and needs, aftermarket products in this space are as seemingly infinite as bike components and tonneau covers. The long and short of it is that systems that rely on stake hole pockets or top-of-bed-rail (screw down) installation should be compatible. Hitch-mounted bike racks are oftentimes a great solution as well with our tonneau cover since the Peragon cover operates independently of the tailgate, allowing operation with hitch-mounted bicycles in place. There’s a wide array of truck bed rail mounted T-slots, tie-downs and tracks that you can deploy with different accessories to customize for your own needs.

Bed Extenders
A bed extender can be a convenient upgrade when you’re in need of extra room–just lower your tailgate and deploy your bed extender and your bed is fully functional with an extra 18-24″. Peragon is compatible with a couple different bed extenders and incompatible with others. Since the tonneau cover rails extend roughly 3″ into your bed on each side, careful selection of bed extenders is required. Below are some guidelines to aide you in selecting a compatible bed extender.

Fifth Wheel
Peragon retractable tonneau covers are popular among fifth wheel travel trailer owners because of its unique open-into-the-bed design that preserves rear visibility while driving and allows you to keep the cover in place. The cover works with many different fifth wheel hitches and the following will help you determine if your fifth wheel setup will be compatible. Due to the significant variation of hitch designs and truck models, we don’t publish recommendations, but you can always contact our Sales & Support team for additional information.
Hitch Clearance
The top of the fifth wheel hitch much be at least one inch below the top of your truck bed rail. The most forward part of your hitch must be at least 20 inches or more from the inside wall at the cab.
Top of hitch must be 1″ or more below top of truck bed rail. Forward part of hitch must be 20″ or more from cab-end bed wall.
King Pin Box and Rail Clearance
Peragon rails extend into the bed roughly 3 inches on each side. Depending on your setup this can affect your turn radius. King pin box may come into contact with rails if making a hard turn. Peragon rails protrude about 1 inch above your truck bed rail. You will want to check to make sure you have adequate room between the top of the Peragon rail and bottom of fifth wheel cap. It is recommended to have a minimum of 5 inches of clearance.
The Peragon rail protrudes an inch above the truck bed rail. Ensure you have adequate clearance between bottom of cap and Peragon Rail. Peragon Rails extend into the bed 3″ which may limit turning radius. In this image, the king pin box may come into contact with rail on a tight turn.
Headache Racks
Headache racks are one of the most popular truck bed accessories out there, and for good reason–they protect your rear window from debris and cargo that you’re hauling, but can also offer storage and other features like accessory lighting. The Peragon cover works with rail mounted headache racks that don’t mount on the inside lip of the bed rail. In some cases, an additional adapter can raise your headache rack and allow for tonneau cover clearance and expanded compatibility.

Bed Liners
Likely the most common aftermarket upgrade of a pickup truck, bed liners are nearly ubiquitous. There are many different styles, most of which are compatible with the Peragon cover. Spray-in liners are fully compatible, even sprayed over-the-rail. The BedRug is fully compatible. Under-the-rail plastic drop-in liners will work fine, with some requiring minor modification. If the plastic liner wraps over the front of the bed or over the tailgate, that’s fine too. Over-the-rail plastic liners that wrap over the sides of the truck bed may not be compatible or may require extensive modification.

Cargo Management Systems
Cargo management systems (also known as utility track systems) are becoming more popular in truck beds straight from the factory, though most are still installed as aftermarket accessories. These systems allow you to plug in a variety of different accessories for different functionality from cargo cleats to bed organizers and trays. In some cases, these systems interfere with the Peragon tonneau cover so we’ve provided the below guide to aide you in understanding compatibility.

will a in bed tool box clear the cover? a tool box that lay’s on the bed floor
Hi Richard, unfortunately, our bed cover is not compatible with any tool boxes that we’re aware of. The cover opens into-the-bed at the cab end, which is typically where tool boxes consume space. Thanks for your interest!
Does this system work with the Decked bed storage system for a 5.8ft bed?
Hi Brandon, thanks for your interest. Unfortunately the Decked systems are not compatible.
Will the Peragon cover work with the roll n lock cargo manager? This is for a 2020 Honda Ridgeline.
Hi Scott,
The Peragon cover is not compatible with the Roll N Lock Cargo Manager. Thanks!
Has anyone used this with a slide I’m truck camper?
Hi Matt,
Yes, I have a Four Wheel Camper and use it all the time. That said, I have to remove the rails to do so as the camper is just a little too wide and it will hit the rails. Removal of the rails literally takes 5-10 minutes when you have the Quick Clamps and you can then put it back on and tweak everything to have it working smoothly in about 15-20 minutes. I don’t believe a truck bed camper would fit without removing the rails though.
I reviewed your site for compatible bed racks but do not see much info beside custom bed racks. I like your tonneau cover but would also like to have a quality bed rack attached onn my 2020 Tacoma 5ft bed. Any bed racks that you know can fit on he Tacoma along with the Peragon bed cover?
Hi Sam, the RCI rack is one that comes with tonneau cover adapters and looks to be a great fitment with our cover.
Hey Sam, here is another rack that a customer has used with the Peragon cover:

Will this bed cover work with load bars that cross over the bed that would fasten under the peragons rails to the deck rail? (I.e. billiebars or voodoo)
No, those would not be compatible as the installation would interfere with our bed rails. We would recommend an adjustable load bar in the bed like this one: https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/H-3345/Dock-Equipment/Steel-Load-Bar-44-74?pricode=WA9191&gadtype=pla&id=H-3345&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8tXrnNOY4AIVXbnACh2fegIpEAQYAiABEgKl3_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I have a 2021 Nissan Titan with f ok r black of better terms “a rollbar”….the rear mounting bracket is inside the rail. Will your product work with this setup?
Hi Richard,
In this case it is probably best to send us a picture of how it is mounting to the inside edge or provide us with a direct link to the specific roll bar you have and send it to sales@peragon.com and we’ll be better able to support you. This allows us to see how thick the angle iron is and how close the uprights are to the inside edge of the bed. Thank you!
Hello would “bedslider” brand bed slider be compatible?
Hi Jeremy! Thank you for your interest in our Peragon Truck Bed Cover! The height of the bed slide with guard rails would likely interfere with the ramp used for the panel group to retract. You can see the exact space needed here: https://peragon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360047699674-How-Much-Space-is-Needed-for-the-Cover-to-Retract-
I was looking to get one of your truck bed covers I have a 2022 ram rebel. Would it be compatible with this roll bar https://www.amazon.com/Black-Horse-RB001BK-Classic-Roll/dp/B01IIBKGCO?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Hi Adam,
Thank you for your interest in our Peragon truck bed covers. We make cover for the 2022 Ram Rebel. Just keep in mind the cover will not work with Ramboxes or the Ram Multi-function tailgate! You can check it out here: https://www.peragon.com/shop/covers/Dodge/Ram%201500

Hello!
I’m looking to buy a 21 or 22 Honda Ridgeline in the near future. I’m also hoping to get your peragon tonneau cover and a ladder rack. I see that the Vantech p3000 is compatible with peragon and Ridgeline. Is there a certain p3000 or set needed for it to make it work? Is there another ladder rack that works with the peragon and Ridgeline?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi Kelly!
Thank you for your interest in our Peragon truck bed cover! The thing to look for in a ladder rack is something that mounts using the stake pockets. Racks that mount by wrapping around the top rail of the bed can interfere with the Peragon rail system.
Will an Armordillo Stealth Chase rack be compatible?
From what I can see this rack mounts to the top of your bed rails so potentially yes. That being said we can’t speak to how much room the rack takes up and whether or not that leaves enough room for the Peragon rails. We do see customers sometimes installing similar style racks and just tucking the seals of the Peragon rail underneath. What you don’t want is a rack that is going to push down into the Peragon rails as that could impact the operation of the cover.
Will the https://www.max-modular.com/ Rack system be compatible with my existing Peragon cover?
Hi Rob! Yes, many of our customers use the max-modular rack systems!
i have seen tonneau covers that can lock shut with a bike pad on the tailgate is this possible with yours on a 5th gen ram?
Hi Trent!
Yes, the Peragon cover will lock shut with a bike pad on the tailgate. If your bike pad is really thick and you’re finding it difficult to close your tailgate you may need to adjust your rails back toward the cab 1/8″ or so.
Hi, I have a 2020 F250 with an attached backrack. Will your cover work with a backrack?
Never mind I found the answer
Hello,
I purchased a gently used 2022 Ridgeline. It came with a Tuwa Pro Moab rack system. Would your bed cover work the existing rack? The Moab rack is mounted on rails that use the existing bolts inside the bed. Your online installation instruction has it using the same bolts, but with the Tuwa Pro rails in the way, it may not be compatible. Is there hardware that could mount to the Tuwa Pro rails to install your HDx bed cover?
Hi Danilo
Thank you for your interest in the Peragon truck bed cover! There is no additional hardware that would mount to the rack for the Peragon cover. That rack will not be compatible with the Peragon cover.
Hi,
Would the cover work with the Leitner forged t-slot rack? From what I can see it looks like it *could* work.
We can’t guarantee compatibility. It would require a universal t-slot rail. We have some listed in the article that we know are compatible with the Peragon cover but do not know if they will work for the Leitner rack
Is the cover compatible with the GM Standard Bed Side-Mounted Bed Storage Box in a Silverado 1500 short bed?
The side-mounted bed storage boxes interfere with the ramps the cover retracts on and are not compatible.
Is the following system compatible?
BuiltRight Industries – BEDSIDE RACK SYSTEM 4 PANEL KIT | FORD F-150, LIGHTNING & RAPTOR (2021+)
https://builtrightind.com/products/bedside-rack-system-4-panel-kit-ford-f-150-raptor-2021
Hi Jason! Thank you for your interest in the Peragon truck bed cover. That system would not be compatible with the Peragon mounting brackets.
Is the Elevate T-Slot rail system compatible with the Peragon cover?
Thanks!
Hi Nick! Compatibility would depend on both the model of your truck and the edition of the cover you select.
Fair enough, how about a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 74” bed with a LimitedHD cover and a 2000 Ford F-150 with a 78” bed and a Platinum cover.
After further investigation, it is difficult to confirm compatibility with this because of the clamps. We can’t guarantee that the mounting hardware provided will fit under the Peragon rails. Is it possible? Yes. However, we can not verify fitment and would recommend choosing a solution that mounts to the stake pockets rather than clamps. You can check out some options here: https://support.peragon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048252993-What-Ladder-Overland-and-Bike-Racks-work-with-the-Peragon-cover
