How to measure for a tonneau cover

In order to ensure you get the right model cover for your truck, we need to know the make, model, year, and length of your truck bed. In order to get the correct length, you need to know how to measure your truck bed.

You might think that there are standard truck bed sizes, and man would that make our jobs easier, but that is not the case! Lengths vary by make and one model can be offered with several different bed length options! For example, the Ford F-150 can come in a 5.5, 6.5, or 8 ft bed, but the Super Duty models (F-250, F-350, and F-450) are only offered with a 6.5” or 8” bed.  Check out the differences in the Ford and Chevrolet pickup truck dimension charts at the bottom of this post.

What size is my truck bed?

Even if you think you know the length of your truck bed or have a standard truck bed size, we always recommend getting out the measuring tape to be sure. Measure twice, buy once (anybody else read that in their dad’s voice?). 

Measuring your truck bed dimensions for a Peragon cover is very straightforward and won’t take long at all. We only need to know the length of your truck bed (detailed below). It is not necessary to measure the truck bed width when ordering your cover.

Take your tape measure and place one end on the inside edge of the truck bed behind the cab (this can be done standing in or outside of the truck bed). Measure to the inside edge of the truck bed at the tailgate end at the top of the bed.

Don’t be alarmed if your measurement is slightly different (usually around 1”) from the listed bed length options, order the cover closest to your measurements. This could occur for a variety of reasons including factory variances and will not impact the fit or operation of your cover.
